We have not yet documented this town's living legend.
In 1170 the Count of Nájera, Lope Díaz de Haro, and his wife Aldonza Ruiz de Castro donated their possessions in Cañas and Canillas and a vineyard in Troncillo to the nuns of Ayueles, the origin of the Cistercian monastery of Cañas. Today the municipality has some 128 ha of vineyards.
